Alex Harwood Practitioner

Working as an artist and facilitator in various community and public health service settings since 2007, Alex is a passionate advocate of socially engaged arts practice and its potential to transform the quality of people’s lives for the better.

Alex relocated to London from Manchester in 2012 to study an MA in Participatory & Community Arts at Goldsmiths College, and has since gone on to work on projects with various arts charities, NHS mental health services, King’s College London and Sydenham High School. Working with South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust’s arts for addictions group, he delivered participatory arts exhibitions and workshops celebrating World Mental Health Day at Tate Modern in 2013 and 2014.

Alex also works as an independent arts tutor providing one-to-one tuition to students and adult learners in their homes, and is currently setting up his own design & print business. He also practices as a painter, mixed media/collage artist, photographer and filmmaker and has exhibited works at The Salome Art Gallery and The Lovely Art Gallery in South East London.
